NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The City of North Platte is reminding residents that garbage collection schedules and facility hours will be adjusted in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Because the Fourth of July falls on a Saturday, the city will observe the holiday on Friday, July 3. There will be no refuse collection service on Friday, July 3.

Residents are asked to place their garbage carts out two days prior to their normal pickup day to avoid missing collection. City officials also remind residents that all garbage must be bagged and placed inside city-issued containers with lids completely closed. Bags or loose trash left on the ground will not be collected.

The Public Service Department will be closed Friday, July 3.

The Transfer Station will remain open on Friday, July 3, but will be closed Saturday, July 4. Regular operating hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. will resume Monday, July 6.

City officials encourage residents to plan ahead for the holiday schedule changes.
