
Ardis Jean (Randel) Vukas, age 97, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away on October 20, 2021 at her residence in Rock Creek Senior Living in Ankeny.
Ardis was born December 16, 1923 in McCook, NE to parents Lester H. and Amy C. (Meyers) Randel, one of five children. Ardis attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1941. She then went on to attend McCook Community College, graduating in 1943.
On June 1, 1945, Ardis married the love of her life, Steve Vukas in Oberlin, KS. The couple settled in Ypsilanti, Michigan where they made their home and were both employed in the field of education. Ardis worked as a secretary for the University of Michigan.
Following Steve’s death in 1997, Ardis returned to McCook where she became an active member of the community. She was a member of the PTO as well as a Pink Lady at McCook Community Hospital. Ardis was a lifetime member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook.
Ardis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve Vukas; and her four siblings, Margaret (Robin) Hippenstiel, Beth (Cub) Jussel, Gale (Patsy) Randel and Gary (Sandy) Randel.
Those left to celebrate her life include her eighteen nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
