Neil Mitchell Bokoskie, born on August 20, 1967, passed away unexpectedly due to a heart attack on July 23, 2024 in Cheyenne, WY.
Growing up, Neil attended a one-classroom elementary school (Sioux Lookout), later attending Maxwell Public School throughout middle school, and eventually going on to North Platte High School to finish out his secondary education. He graduated class of 1985. While in high school, Neil excelled in the rodeo arena as a bull rider. He won consecutive NHSRA championships two years in a row—1983 and 1984. After graduating, he went on to ride bulls for Fort Scott Community College on a rodeo scholarship, later making his way to Oklahoma State. He had also joined the PRCA and was in the running for rookie of the year. Unfortunately, his riding career was cut short by a shoulder injury.
Neil was a passionate and hardworking man, dedicating over 30 years of his life to his career with Union Pacific maintenance of way—a testament of his commitment to providing for his loved ones. Some of Neil’s proudest accomplishments were bringing his daughters into this world alongside his wife Julie. He appreciated time spent with family, and found happiness in seeing his children grow and succeed.
Neil’s love for the outdoors was unparalleled. He loved hunting, fishing, kayaking, rafting, camping, hiking, and biking. Neil was an adventurer at heart, his outdoor hobbies bringing him immense joy and peace. He could also often be found on his Harley Davidson motorcycle on an evening cruise.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family: wife, Julie of North Platte; daughters, Kelsey, Shelby, Shaelen, Shanelle; step-sons, Wacey Barrett, Wyatt Barrett, Taylor (Katie) Barrett; grandson, Jayce Daniels; parents Kevin (Elaine) Bokoskie of Valentine; step-father, Patrick Martin of Bryan, TX; sisters, Shelli (Randy) Wingett of Omaha, Lori Rosendahl of Magna, UT; nephew, Brandon Wingett of Omaha; numerous other family and friends.
Neil was preceded in death by biological father, Don Wondercheck; mother, Janice Martin.
Neil’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 2, 2024 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held noon-5:00 P.M., with family present from 3:00-5:00, Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
