What's the most important word in basketball?
That's just one of the many things that Coach Washington was hoping to teach area basketball players in his one day camp put on by his organization Dribble Dive academy and New Balance basketball.
"I dont just come into towns to teach drills, anyone can do drills. We want to teach concepts so the kids can utilize those during a game."
For Coach Washington its an opportunity to improve the game of basketball in the midwest. Something he is very passionate about.
In his camp, he taught three age ranges: 3rd to 5th grade, Middle school and High schoolers.
"We take all that we learn in camp, and apply it to their game. We try to teach the 'why' behind all those things that coaches tell you. Once you understand the why, you become a better player."
Become a better player, something everyone hopes to accomplish.
