$2K reward offered for information on Kearney shooting

KEARNEY, Neb.-Police in Kearney are upping the ante in their investigation of a weekend shooting, offering a $2,000 cash reward for information that leads to an arrest of the person or persons responsible.

The shooting happened early Saturday morning in the 800 block of West 27th St. during a disturbance.

Officers responding to a report of gunshots received word that a male, 20, was receiving treatment at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police said the victim was walking when he was confronted by five black males in a light-colored four-door vehicle.

Police said an altercation took place and a handgun was discharged several times, striking the victim in the leg.

Witnesses told police the vehicle then headed westbound on 9th Ave.

In addition to information on the suspect or suspects, police are asking residents in the area to check doorbells and security cameras that may have captured potential evidence.
