NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The Guardians of the Children (GOC) FlatRock Chapter is inviting area youth and their families to take part in its inaugural Bikes on the Bricks event, a free day of riding and activities designed to highlight affordable family fun in downtown North Platte.

The event is open to children ages 18 and under, with parents encouraged to ride along. Kids can participate on bicycles, tricycles, Power Wheels, wagons, or other kid-friendly rides.

Check-in begins at 10 a.m. at the North Platte Area Children's Museum, with the group ride departing at 11 a.m.

Participants will ride to Ace Hardware, where lunch from Elizabeth's Tacos will be provided, before continuing to Movies at the Fox and finishing at Double Dips, The Original Ice Creamery, where each rider will receive an ice cream treat.

The first 10 households to register will receive a commemorative event T-shirt. Additional shirts may be ordered online through July 20. Organizers will also hold a drawing at the end of the ride with several prizes to be awarded.

Families can cap off the day by catching Toy Story 5 at The Fox Theater, with showtimes at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are just $5 per person.

"This is a brand-new event for kids, and we really need the help to get the word out," organizers said. "We want to showcase some of the less expensive things to do down on the Bricks for families."

The Guardians of the Children FlatRock Chapter hopes the event becomes a fun annual tradition while introducing families to the many affordable attractions available in downtown North Platte. Registration information, including a QR code for T-shirt orders, is available here
