NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-The North Platte mall has been officially rebranded as part of the shopping center's redevelopment.
The North Platte Mall held the official groundbreaking and rebranding event on Tuesday morning.
Christine Weeks and Shawn Flattery of Eleanor Creative out of Lincoln were consulted by Rev Development, the mall's owner, to come up with a new name for the shopping center.
"One of the things we loved was the Canteen Experience, which you're now honoring with the Canteen District," said Weeks. "Another thing came up to us, again and again, was I-80, we wanted this destination to not be just for people in North Platte but to be for people that are passing through."
To incorporate the two, Weeks and Flattery came up with District 177, to honor the Canteen District as well as North Platte's exit from the interstate.
District 177 will remain open throughout the redevelopment and construction process.
