North Platte Community College men’s basketball fell on the road to the Plainsman of Northeastern Junior College on Tuesday night, 75-62.
In the first half, the Knights found themselves down early as the Plainsman jumped out to an 11-4 advantage in the opening minutes of action. Knights fought back, taking their first lead of the game on a Trevon Dennis three point shot with just over twelve minutes remaining in the half, 14-13.
The Plainsman quickly swung the momentum in their favor regaining the lead on their next possession and pushing the deficit to eight with 8:25 to play. The Knights attempted another run at the Plainsman lead, but Northeastern answered and took a nine-point lead into the break, 39-30.
In the second half, the Knights made a charge at the Plainsman lead cutting the deficit to one with 11:30 to play, 53-52. Northeastern never relinquished their lead and closed the final four minutes of the game on a 12-3 run to defeat the Knights, 75-62.
Dennis led the Knights with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor. Timur Krupalija rounded out the Knights double-digit scorers with 16 points to go along with his eight rebounds.
Knights fall to 2-4 on the year and will return home this weekend to host Lamar Community College on Friday, February 19. Tip is set for 7 p.m. inside McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
