Beverly Rae Colburn, 85, of Sutherland, passed away February 4, 2022 at Great Plains Health.  She was born on February 12, 1936 to J. Ray and Margaret (Wherry) King in Sutherland.

Beverly graduated from Sutherland High School with the class of 1954.  She was a school teacher for two years.  Beverly married Jim Colburn on November 5, 1954 in Sutherland.  The couple went to Germany where Jim was stationed in the Army.  They returned to Sutherland in 1956 where they went to work on the King family farm.  After Jim’s passing, Beverly went to work for Hershey State Bank and Hershey Agency.  After her retirement, she volunteered for the foster grandparent program at Sutherland Public Schools.
Beverly was a 4-H leader for 29 years, belonged to Excelsior Extension Club, was a member of Sutherland Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, church organist, gave piano lessons for many years and enjoyed decorating cakes.  She had a huge garden and raised chickens.  Beverly was a great cook and will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

Beverly is survived by four children, Teresa (Jim) Rotert of Sutherland, Jay (Linda) Colburn of Sutherland, Susan (Barry) Maassen of North Platte, David (Renee) Colburn of Sterling, CO; ten grandchildren, Brian (Shannon) Rotert of Sutherland, Matthew Rotert of Kearney, Missy (Barrey) Konicek of Ord, Keri (Levi) Fisher of Hershey, Mandy (Aaron) Brandes of North Platte, Ben (Sonya) Maassen of Hershey, Aaron (Candice) Maassen of Hoskins, Ann Maassen of Hershey, Ashton (Brian) Hinkle of Sterling, CO, Morgan Colburn of Omaha; ten great grandchildren, Drew Rotert, Maddyn Rotert, Sage Konicek, Devin Konicek, Mekenna Fisher, Peyton Fisher, Blakely Maassen, Briggs Maassen, Eliot Hinkle, Faye Hinkle; numerous other family members and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, J. Ray and Margaret; husband, Jim; brother, Wayne King; sister, Norma “Poke” Wright.

Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 11, 2022 at Sutherland United Methodist Church with Reverend Mark Baldwin officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery near Sutherland.  Visitation will be held noon-4:00 P.M., with family present from 2:00-4:00, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.  The service will be livestreamed via the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those unable to attend.
