
Phyllis Joan Sexton, 88, of North Platte, NE passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Linden Court.
She was born on December 4, 1934 in Graham County, Kansas the daughter of Ralph Alva and Ella Mae (Bethell) LaShell.
Phyllis lived in Kansas and Culbertson as a young child and graduated from Hayes County High School, and later attended summer classes at McCook College. She taught in rural country school for a year before her marriage. She was married on September 5, 1953 to Robert L. Sexton in Ft. Bliss, Texas and together they had 4 sons, Doug, Bill, Dan, and Don. The family first lived for 15 years in Omaha,NE then for 24 years in Big Springs,NE. She was a member of the Methodist church in Julesburg and the Rebekah Lodge in Elsie, NE. Phyllis enjoyed sewing and reading.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Douglas (Karen) Sexton of Washington, TX, William (Myra) Sexton of Ft Morgan, CO, Daniel (Joanne) Sexton of Gilbert, AZ, and Donald (Diana) Sexton of Washington, TX; brothers, Gary (Meredith) LaShell of Topeka, KS, and Arden (Betty) LaShell of Utica, NE; 11 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great -grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob, and her sisters, Maxine Scott, Bonnie Moon, and Peggy Scott and an infant granddaughter, Karen Sue Sexton; and infant grandson, Robert Wyckoff Sexton.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Evans officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hayes Center Cemetery. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
