
Joseph Eugene Hamrick, age 79, of McCook, NE passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, NE.
Joe was born June 19, 1943 in Buckhannon, WV to parents Arlan Oval and Virginia Rebecca (Cain) Hamrick. He was one of three children who grew up in Bergoo, WV and then Warren, OH, where he also attended school. Following high school, Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country from 1961 until being Honorably Discharged in 1966.
On September 24, 1965, Joe married the love of his life, Cheryl Ann (Burns) Hamrick in San Diego, CA. The couple became parents to two children and made their home in Ohio before settling in McCook. Joe worked as a truck driver for many years, serving as a union representative for the Teamsters. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing darts and horseshoes. Joe was a member of the McCook Eagle’s Club and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Ann Hamrick; a brother, Jerry Hamrick; and a sister, Deloris Jane (Hamrick) Barrick.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Cheryl Hamrick of McCook; his son, Joseph E. Hamrick, Jr., wife, Megumi, and their children, Jack and Hana of Tochigi, Japan; and his extended family members.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 16th at 10:30 am at St Patrick's Catholic Church of McCook. Visitation with family present and Recitation of the Rosary are to be held the day before beginning at 5:00 pm. Private burial will be held at a later date.
Donations may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church School in McCook and the American Parkinson Disease Association's Nebraska Chapter.
