On July 18, 2024, 19-year-old Addison Malone was driving under the influence and speeding when her car struck a tree outside North Platte, resulting in the death of her 18-year-old passenger, Nathaniel Sandoval.

She has now entered a no-contest plea to manslaughter, dismissing the prior charges of second-degree murder, motor-vehicle homicide, and underage alcohol possession.

As part of a plea agreement, a recommended sentence of two to five years was proposed. A presentence investigation has been ordered, and sentencing is scheduled for October 20, 2025 in Lincoln County District Court.
