Kearney, Neb. - An investigation is underway after two Union Pacific intramodal rail cars derailed in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
According to Union Pacific spokesperson Robynn Tysver, at about 4 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, two Union Pacific intermodal train cars derailed near Kearney – one derailed in the upright position, the other train car is on its side.
Tysver also stated that no one was injured during the derailment. The incident occurred about four miles east of Kearney near the intersection of Poole Avenue and Nebraska Highway 30.
Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department was contacted shortly after the incident and were on scene. The incident is under investigation.
This is the second Union Pacific train to derail in 3 days as an intermodal train derailed in Chappell Sunday afternoon. In total, 35 cars derailed, and no one was injured during the accident. Sunday's derailment is still under investigation.
