Jeniene Marie Lashley (1939-2021)

     Jeniene Marie Lashley, age 81, of Culbertson, Nebraska passed away at home with her husband, Larry, daughter, Paula, and granddaughter, Emma, at her side.
     Jeniene was born to Griff and Joy Weskamp of McCook, Nebraska on October 14, 1939.  Growing up, Jeniene was involved in 4-H learning to sew and perfecting her baking skills.  She won the blue ribbon for her amazingly delicious cherry pie.  Jeniene also participated in volleyball and pep squad.  She graduated from Red Willow High School.  In the year of 1957, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she lived with Uncle Ernie and Aunt Marge Weskamp.  She graduated from Blair Business College.
     In the summer of 1958, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Larry Lashley.  They moved to Texas while Larry was in the Armed Services.  They were also blessed with the first child, Rene.  After basic training was complete, they moved to Colorado Springs, CO and were blessed with their youngest daughter, Paula.  In 1968, they began their very successful business in the housing construction industry.  It was a 30-year adventure culminating in buying farmland in the Stratton and Culbertson, Nebraska area and retiring there.
     Larry and Jeniene enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, Nevada.  She enjoyed the blackjack tables.  They enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
     Jeniene is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Renee and husband, Joe Bajza; daughter, Paula Matson; seven grandkids: Brandon Wheeler, Paula and Chris Funk, Joe L. and Kirstie Bajza, and Lena-joy Bajza, and Griff, Emma, and Chase Mattson; Jeniend also has ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lonnie (Barb) Weskamp of Denver, Colorado.
     Jeniene was a good friend, an awesome wife, mom and grandma.  We will miss her.
     Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2021 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, Nebraska.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday morning, March 1, 2021 at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, Nebraska with Pastors Jeff Kelley and Merwin Bolles officiating.  Interment will follow the services at Prairie Garden Cemetery north of McCook.
