Michael Eugene Zwickle, age 73, of McCook, NE passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Hillcrest A Caring Center in McCook.
Mike was born June 13, 1947 in McCook to parents Harry M. and Golda L. (Roller) Zwickle. He was one of three siblings who grew up in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1965.
Following high school, on October 7, 1966 Mike enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served his country on the USS Ranger during the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged on December 19, 1969.
Upon his return from service, Mike married Connie Miner on May 18, 1970 in McCook. He became the proud father of his tow sons, Travis and Todd.
Mike was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad and worked as a brakeman for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring old cars and going to car shows with his sons. The 1955 Ford Pickup and the 1938 Ford Coupe were two of Mike’s favorite cars.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Zwickle; his sister, Diane Meissner; and a great niece, Allysha Fischer.
Those left to celebrate his life include his sons, Travis (Kelli) Zwickle of McCook, Nebraska and Todd Zwickle (and girlfriend Nikki) of Rock Springs, Wyoming; granddaughters, Ashton (Lane) Caldwell and Nichole Stevens of Rock Springs, Wyoming; a great grandson, Carter Hawks of Rock Springs, Wyoming; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Memorials are suggested in his name to Community Healthcare Home Health and Hospice, 1301 East H Street, McCook, Nebraska 69001.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, Nebraska.
