Carlos Hernandez

Carlos Ismael Hernandez was born in Culiacan, Sinolaoa, Mexico on June 20, 1972 to Francisco Hernandez and Maria Olivia Vega.  He met Marcy Rodriguez in Fort Morgan, Colorado in 1997, and the two would share the next 25 years of their lives together.

Carlos was one of a kind. A loving, caring father who stayed home with his kids until they were all enrolled in school. He was so devoted to his role as stay-at-home father he won a Regional Award for Father of the year in 2006. Once they were all in school, he worked at Schaffert Manufacturing off and on for 10 years while receiving treatment until he could no longer work.
Carlos was an outdoors man, He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, being with his dog, Canelo, and watching his daughters play softball. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. Carlos was always the go-to man for advice. He was always willing to listen to others and give them the encouragement they needed or the tough love they needed to hear. He was a man with a lot of wisdom that everyone looked up to.

Carlos was always someone who wanted to make memories with his children and family. But after he was diagnosed in 2013, he wanted to make these memories even more meaningful knowing it could be his last. He never let his diagnosis slow him down. He would carry his video camera at every family dinner or event capturing all the moments he could. No matter how he was feeling or where he was, he was always the happiest in the room. He would walk into work every morning and say, “Good Morning everyone!”, just happy to live another day. It left everyone wondering how a man going through so much could be so happy all the time. He was a fighter. He is the epitome of the word. He was only given six months to live, and he made it nine and a half years longer; still taken way too soon. He never let the doctors count him out, always fighting for another day. He would have done anything to stay on this earth with his beautiful family for just one more day. God got tired of waiting for him and decided it was time to bring him home. He was the best person that any of us have ever met. He has changed many peoples lives with his positive attitude and his fight to live. We were all so very lucky to know and love him. He will be missed every single minute of the day. We know he is up in Heaven making all the angels the best carne asada on the grill and making them all laugh until they cry. Rest in Paradise Carlos you are loved beyond measure.
