Jonathan Lloyd Cole, age 59, passed away at his home in Trenton, Nebraska on April 30, 2021. He was born April 30, 1962 in Englewood, Colorado to Joseph N. and S. Virginia (Thomas) Cole. He was the youngest of six children. Jon attended Denver East High School, McCook College and Columbia School of Broadcasting graduating in 1990. Jon was chosen to be a representative of Denver East High School to travel to Mexico as an exchange student. He spoke fluent Spanish.

Jon worked for Marriot Hotel after graduation in Denver, Colorado. He was employed by two local radio stations in the area and one in Harlingen, Texas. After returning to Trenton, he worked for many years in the retail industry until his health failed. After a tragic motorcycle accident in Denver in 1984, Jon experienced a traumatic brain injury. As a result of this his whole world changed at 23 years old. After a difficult recovery he moved to Nebraska to be with family.

Jon loved his family, especially his many nieces and nephews. He was an avid classical rock fan he could tell you who wrote the song, who performed the song, what album it was on, and the date it was released. Anyone who knew him found out quickly that he was a diehard Denver Bronco fan. He was definitely one of a kind, he always had a big smile for everyone, and an amazing sense of humor. He teased his nephews and nieces unmercifully and they loved him. He could charm anyone, especially his older female customers. He was a member of the Church of God for many years. His greatest joy was singing in the Praise Team at church services.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph N. Cole and S. Virginia Cole-Scarbrough; and his sister, Jerilyn Cole.

Jon is survived by his sisters, Joleen Reeder and Jan Cole, both of Trenton, Nebraska; two brothers, Joseph (Jill) Cole of Trenton, Nebraska and James (Zulema) Cole of Enid, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews; and his stepfather, Gary Scarbrough of Trenton, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Church of God in Trenton, Nebraska with Kyle Nichols providing words of comfort.  Interment followed the services in the Cornell Cemetery in rural Hitchcock County, Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested to the family of Jon Cole for future designation.  Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.  Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
