NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — April 24, 2025 — Seventy-four local nonprofit organizations are gearing up for North Platte Giving Day, set for Wednesday, May 7. Early giving is already open, giving donors a head start to support causes that matter most to them.

Now in its tenth year, the community-wide giving event is hosted by the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation.

“North Platte Giving Day is the best time to help favorite community causes,” said Eric Seacrest, executive director of the foundation.

Donors can choose which nonprofits to support and how much to give. More than $100,000 in pledged matching gifts will be unlocked when donors contribute to eligible organizations. In addition, 55 sponsored cash prizes—ranging from $200 to $1,000—will be awarded to nonprofits based on donations received during designated times. Prizes apply to both online and check contributions.

All Giving Day donations go entirely to the selected nonprofits, with the Community Foundation covering all processing fees.

Early giving donations not only help earn matching funds but also make nonprofits eligible for the cash prizes.

Information about participating nonprofits, matching gifts, and sponsored prizes is available at NorthPlatteGiving.org, where donations can also be made online.

Donors preferring to give by check can obtain printed donation forms at local Giving Sites, including Prairie Arts Center, Orr’s Cleaners & Draperies, the Catholic School Endowment, Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, and U-Save Pharmacy, which is open until 8 p.m. on weekdays. Checks may also be mailed to Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1321, North Platte, NE 69103.

Donations may be tax deductible for individuals who itemize deductions.

Participating nonprofits serve a wide range of needs in Lincoln County and surrounding areas, many relying heavily on donations and volunteer support. There is no cost for nonprofits to participate in the event.

An online leaderboard will track donation totals, sponsored prize winnings, and matching funds earned. A full list of prizes is available on the website and updated throughout the event.
