NORTH PLATTE, NEB - A heat advisory will go into effect today for counties in the region. According to the National Weather Service, a heat advisory will be in effect for the following counties, Lincoln, Keith, Perkins, Chase, Logan, Frontier, Custer, and Hayes. The effect will be issued at 1pm CDT/12 pm MDT and will be in effect tell 10pm CDT/9pm MDT tomorrow
According to the National Weather Service, Curtis in Frontier County will have the highest heat index at 104 degrees today and tomorrow. North Platte's heat index will reach 102 for today and also tomorrow, and Ogallala of Keith County heat index is 99 degrees today and will reach 101 degrees tomorrow.
Hot temperatures mixed with humidity can cause for potential danger heat illnesses to occur. Stay hydrated during this time and also to stay in a cool area.
