NebraskaLand Bank, in partnership with FHLBank Topeka, is awarding a total of $48,000 to volunteer fire departments across Lincoln County.

The funding comes through FHLBank Topeka’s Community Assistance Recovery Effort (CARE) Program, which provided a matching grant to support NebraskaLand Bank’s contribution. Six departments will each receive $8,000 to be used for supplies and equipment.

The departments receiving funding include Brady, Hershey, Maxwell, North Platte, Sutherland, and Wallace volunteer fire departments.

NebraskaLand Bank President and CEO Senator Mike Jacobson said the donations reflect the bank’s commitment to supporting the community and recognizing the service of local firefighters. He noted that volunteer firefighters consistently step up in times of emergency, protecting lives, property, and livelihoods across the area.

A check presentation ceremony honoring the departments is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, April 20, in the third-floor lounge of NebraskaLand Bank’s main branch at 1400 South Dewey in North Platte.

The CARE Program was launched in 2025 to help member financial institutions respond to FEMA-declared disasters. Through the program, FHLBank Topeka matches $3 for every $1 contributed by member banks toward disaster relief efforts.

FHLBank Topeka President and CEO Jeff Kuzbel said the program is designed to strengthen the impact community financial institutions can have when responding to natural disasters.

NebraskaLand Bank is a member of FHLBank Topeka, which provides funding and liquidity to financial institutions across Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, and Oklahoma.
