Christine Marie Bourquin died Wednesday, June 26th at her home in Maywood, NE.
Born August 18, 1964, at Brewster Hospital in Holdrege, NE.
Graduated from Alliance High School in 1982. Moving to Colby, KS Christine was united in marriage Richard Beatson September 1983. They then moved to Lead, South Dakota for a short time where their family grew with the arrival of Mo Kasson. Upon moving from South Dakota to Colorado Christine attended AIMS Community College in Greely Co. Christine would later graduate with a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Nebraska – Kearney. Christine was divorced in 1988, eventually moving to Holdrege, NE where she resided until after Mo graduated high school. In June of 2011 Christine was united in marriage to Kurt Lewien in Kearney, NE. While living in Kearney she worked at Richard Young Hospital where she had a passion for helping clients to better their situation and move on to better things. Changes at Richard Young lead to Christine going back to school to complete the degree started at Aims. Upon graduation from UNK, Christine took a position with the Department of Health and Human Services office in North Platte, NE which led to her moving to Maywood NE. At the time of her passing she was delivering medications for pharmacies, with her base of operations in North Platte, NE.
While driving she loved to listen to audio books to help pass the time. Christine was also an avid “Trekkie” often using the Vulcan phrase “Live long and prosper.” In addition to the Star Trek franchise, she loved anything involving space including writings from Issac Asimov, and The Star Wars movies. If she wasn’t playing a Star Trek game or watching a series, she loved to read, passing on both those loves to Mo. She often seemed to collect cats everywhere she went, usually feeding at least one or two strays in addition to those she adopted. She also loved many dogs throughout her life. Christine was a fun, smart, and spirited woman.
Christine was preceded in death by infant sister Sonya, father-Freddie A Bourquin, grandparents Dorothy and Fred Bourquin, grandparents Mabel and Walter Weckwerth.
Survived by child Mo (Megan) Kasson, mother-Reta Bourquin, brother Tom (Sheryl) Bourquin, niece Sarah Bourquin. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and close family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held, Saturday, July 6, 2024, Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St, Gothenburg, NE.
