On Oct 28, 2020 Juanita (Jennie) Garvin, loving wife and mother of three boys, passed away at the age of 85. Jennie was born on December 27, 1934 in Wellington, Kansas to Manuel and Mary (Ybarra) Vieyra.
She married Olegario (Jessie) Perez and raised three sons, Jessie LeRoy Perez, Victor (Laurie) Perez and Marty Perez in North Platte, Nebraska.
On Nov. 17, 1987 she married Tom Garvin, who proceeded her in death on June 23, 2010. They made their home in North Platte after spending a few short years in Lincoln, Nebraska. Together they gardened, danced, played shuffleboard and spent time with family and friends.
Jennie loved her flowers and spent many hours nurturing and weeding them. Her efforts earned her the recipient of North Platte’s “Yard of the Week Award.” She also liked to fish, dance and was a great cook.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Garvin; son, Marty Perez; sister; Irene Lopez; great granddaughter, Elli Grace Perez.
She is survived by her sons, Jesse LeRoy Perez and Victor (Laurie) Perez; brothers; Roy Vieyra, George Vieyra, Pat (Chris) Vieyra and Bob (Mary) Vieyra; sisters, Nelle (Lynn) Tominaga, Anita Sanchez, Terry (Don) Boese, Gina (Rueben) Rangel, Delores (Jesse) Lira, and Helen (Alex) Sanchez; 20 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 11 Great-great grandchildren; two sisters in laws; MaryLee Jensen and Kathleen Garvin, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Private family Christian Wake Service will be held at noon, Monday, November 2, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte, Nebraska. Private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020 with the Reverend Mark Sieker as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte is in charge of arrangements.
The service will be livestreamed on the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those not able to attend. The family requests masks be worn by those attending the service.
