Marthaleen Rae "Marti" Parks peacefully passed away at her son's housein North Platte on June 9, 2024, at the age of 83.
Marthaleen was born August 26, 1940, to Lloyd and Martha Empfield at Callaway, NE, where she grew up and graduated from high school.
On November 24, 1963, Marti married Loran Lee Parks at Callaway, NE. Since he was still serving in the U.S. Army, the couple began their life together living in Georgia. After his discharge they moved to Callaway, then North Platte. Marti was a stay-at-home mother to their three sons, David, Douglass and Darren. Marti and Loran were together for nearly 50 years when he passed away in 2013.
Marti loved bowling, gardening and especially dancing with Loran at several different dance halls. She attended services at Bethel Free Church and most recently, First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and Senior Center and was an active member of the North Platte Al-Anon.
Marti was a woman of Christ and devoted to her family.
Along with her husband, Marti was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marjorie Eichelberger, Sharla Kaelin and Patsy Horn; her daughter-in-law, Betty; and infant grandson, Devon.
She is survived by her sons, David and Douglass (Anna) of North Platte and Darren of Illinois; grandchildren, Bretton, Matthew, Christopher and Samara; her sister, Marilyn Waldron of Lincoln; and other family.
Services will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 13, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Kem Reeder officiating. Burial to follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
