With weekend storms forecast in Lincoln County throughout the weekend, the North Platte

Plainsmen announced that the June 2 Fan Fest event will be moved to July 4 and all elements will be added to

the Independence Day event.

“As much as we need the rain, and it’s good for our beloved farmers and ranchers, rain is definitely not good for

baseball,” Plainsmen owner Chuck Heeman said. “With the forecast for more rain, and putting people on the

field in wet conditions, we’ve decided to make our July 4 Spectacular even bigger and better.”

The July 4 event features the only fireworks show in North Platte, an exhibition game featuring the Plainsmen

taking on the U.S. Military War Dogs active military traveling baseball team, and special jerseys to be worn by the

Plainsmen to raise funds for local military and veteran-related charities. In addition, elements from the June 2

Fan Fest, including kids’ clinics, games, prizes, and special vendors including Kona Ice and more.

As of May 31, the June 3 Family Movie Night at the Ballpark, featuring “Little Big League”, is still on schedule with

a 7:00 p.m. start time. Weather will be monitored with family and fan safety as a foremost consideration. Alerts

will be sent as needed.
