Mr. Delbert Ridenour, age 67, of Culbertson, NE passed away at his home in Culbertson on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
Delbert was born March 27, 1955, in Cabool, Missouri to parents John and Eloise (Blagdon) Ridenour. He attended Cabool High School and grew up in the area until moving to Texas in his 20's.
In 1982, Delbert married Nancy (Smotherman) Ridenour in Odessa, TX. Together they moved to Nebraska in the late 80's to raise their children: Bryan, John, Justin, Alicia, and Twila.
Delbert was a truck driver and shop manager/mechanic in his lifetime. In early 2000s, he raced little pickups, and Delbert’s racing name was Silver Bullet. He may not have won every race, but he always came out with a smile on his face. Delbert was a member of Trenton Golf Club, found comfort in fishing, and enjoyed having a beer or moonshine with
his friends and family.
Delbert is survived by his wife Nancy (Smotherman) Ridenour; his children Bryan Smotherman of Culbertson, NE, John (Candy) Madera of Beatrice, NE, Justin Bright of Culbertson, NE, Twila (Mike) MacFarland of LaPine, Oregon, and Alicia (James) Hegwood; brother in laws Eddie Smotherman of Pueblo, CO and Robert Smotherman (Janice) of Tularosa, NM; sister Velora (Ted) Zapp of Culbertson, NE; and special niece
Heather (Kenny) Adams of Palisade, NE. Delbert had 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Delbert also leaves behind many, many close friends which he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws.
