The Alliance Fire Department responded to 1100 block of Platte Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 6:33 a.m. regarding smoke coming from the basement of a house.

At approximately 06:40 a.m. there was little to no smoke showing from the front of the house.
"Upon entry there was a moderate amount of smoke coming from the basement," Alliance Fire Chief Troy Shoemaker said. "The fire was located in a room on the west side of the home. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and the smoke was ventilated from the home."
A female and juvenile male were in the house during the fire and were transported to Box Butte General Hospital for observation for potential smoke inhalation.
"The fire department responded with 13 firefighters, one ambulance, one fire engine, one aerial ladder truck and one command vehicle," Shoemaker said.
The Alliance Fire Department was assisted by the Alliance Police Department, City of Alliance Public Works/Electrical Department and Black Hills Energy.
The fire remains under investigation by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Investigation Division and Alliance Fire Department.
