Betty L. Davis, age 84, of McCook, passed away in North Platte on April 26, 2022. She was born in Greeley, Colo., on Dec. 14, 1937, to Harold and Lula M. (Cumley) Sothman. The family moved to McCook in 1970.
On Sept. 27, 1952, she wed Gene Ellenwood. To this union five children were born: Jim, Bill, Steve, Dianna, and Penny. On April 12, 1976, she wed Dale F. Davis and he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2002.
Betty enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. She enjoyed weekend dinners, planning Easter egg hunts, and making piñatas for grandchildren’s birthdays. Betty spent time reading and studying her Bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lula; two sons, Terry and David Ellenwood; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Shorty Piper; and brother-in-law, Frank Prosser.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Dianna (Randy) Brown of North Platte and Penny (Richard) Thomas of Indianola, Neb.; three sons, Jim (Barb) Ellenwood, Bill (Diane) Ellenwood of Michigan, and Steve (Jeanine) Ellenwood of Harlan, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Norma Prosser of Wyoming.
Funeral services will be at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bill Ellenwood, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Visitation will be at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 2-5 p.m. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.
