Dolores Christner passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center. She was 85 years of age.
Dolores Kay was born on May 29, 1938 to Cliff and Cleo (Hoskins) Matson in Culbertson, Nebraska. She grew up in Culbertson helping at the family café and attending and graduating high school from Culbertson schools.
On November 16, 1958, Dolores was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Christner. The couple moved to the family farm in Hayes County where Dolores helped with the everyday farm life and raised their four children: Mike, Jamie, Kelly, and Terri.
Dolores always kept two large gardens on the farm and spent countless hours canning and putting up vegetables. She also enjoyed cake decorating and golf. Dolores was at her happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Cliff and Cleo; grandson, Austin Wright; brothers, LeRoy and Wayne Matson; brother-in-law, Vernon Christner; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale and Vyonna Fowler.
Dolores is survived by her children: Michael (Vickie) Christner of Hayes Center, Nebraska, James (Angela) Christner of Palisade, Nebraska, Kelly (Kathy) Christner of Sutherland, Nebraska, and Terri Banzhaf of McCook; she will also be remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Wilma Christner.
Cremation was chosen and memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Saturday morning, October 28, 2023 at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center with Pastor Jean Miller and Chaplin Tyler Thiessen providing words of comfort. Burial will follow in the Hayes Center Cemetery.
