Louis Eugene Cooper, 80, of North Platte, NE passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 27, 1942 in Kearney, NE the son of Louis Eldred and Luella Mae (Sheild) Cooper.
Louis graduated from North Platte High School in 1961. On May 13, 1967, he was united in marriage to Linda Joy Cain in Mitchell, SD, and together they had 3 daughters, Glenda, Karla, and Bobbie. In 1968, they moved to North Platte, where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a carman and inspector, retiring in 2008. Louis enjoyed fishing, especially his yearly trip to fish in Canada, and watching his son in law and grandson race cars.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Karla Cooper and Bobbie (Jay) Steffens all of North Platte; grandchildren, Alex (Karie) Steffens of Omaha, Alysa (Alex) Maline of Omaha, and Ayden Steffens of North Platte; great-grandson, Elijah; nieces, Kim (James) Haley of Ogallala, and Karen Meng of TX; and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; a daughter, Glenda Cooper; and sister, Carol Pickett.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Willie Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 5th with family receiving friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
