
Dorothy Stoner was born on July 11, 1942 to Henry and Martha (Thompson) Bauer in North Platte, Nebraska, where she grew up. She passed away at Great Plains Health on May 30, 2025 at the age of 82.
By the time Dorothy finished 6th grade, the family moved to Billings, Montana and later Portland, Oregon where she finished her schooling, graduating high school in 1960. Following her graduation, the family returned to North Platte and she went to work at St. Mary's Hospital, then Memorial Hospital.
On August 25, 1962, Dorothy married Larry Stoner at the North Platte Berean Church. After living in North Platte for a number of hears, they moved to Hershey, Nebraska and attended the Hershey Baptist Church. After Larry died, Dorothy returned to North Platte in 1993.
Dorothy was a member of New Direction Baptist Church at Crosby, Texas. She enjoyed spending time with family, scrapbooking, painting, and taking pictures.
Along with her husband, Larry, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha Bauer; her brother, Robert Bauer; and her daughter, Pam Campbell Skinner.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Diahann) Stoner and Debra (Warren) Smith of North Platte, NE, Peggy (Robert) DeCent of Sutherland, NE, Linda (Michael) Jeffers of Sacramento, CA, and Deanna (Raymond) Just of Crosby, TX; her sisters, Lorretta Kisslering of Sidney, NE and Mary Pace of Omaha, NE; 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren including Leandro Lee Stoner; and many other family members.
Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Oden Colonial Chapel in North Platte, NE. Dorothy will be buried with her husband at Floral Lawns Memorials Gardens in North Platte at a later date.
