    James “Jim” L. Foster age, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away at the CHI Good Samaritan Health in Kearney on November 20, 2023.  He was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on November 13, 1940, to Loyal and Winifred (Sexton) Foster.  Jim attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1958.  He was inducted in the United States Army on October 22, 1962, and was Honorably Discharged on October 21, 1969.

    Jim was united in marriage to Beverly Hansen at the Bartley Christian Church in Bartley in 1966.  The couple celebrated 57 years of marriage.  Jim was employed at the Roberts Cattle Company for 39 years as the mill operator.  He later worked for Davis Energy for eight years, where he delivered gas and serviced cars.  He was a shade tree mechanic and bowled as his hobby.  Jim was a regular at the YMCA walking many miles around the track, sometime two miles a day. He enjoyed visiting with those that came into the “Y”.

   Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Winifred; twin sons, Larry and Lonnie; brother, John (Charlene) Foster, and sister, Alice (Darrell) Wulf.

    Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Lexington; sons, Gary (Vicki) Foster of Hutchinson, Kansas and Terry Foster of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as his grandchildren, Kendall and Jamison Foster.

    The family chose cremation with a private family burial in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge on November 24, 2023, with Jim Jones providing Words of Comfort.  Memorials may be left in Jim’s name to either the Lexington YMCA or the Lexington Fire Department.
