Alma Alder (1920-2020)

Alma was born to Edwin and Florence (Peters) Seifried on August 4, 1920 in Tripp County on a farm near Winner, South Dakota.

In 1928, the family moved to a farm near Sparks, Nebraska where Alma attended Sandcreek School.  The next move was to Rosebud, South Dakota where her parents opened a cafe.

In 1933 the move was to Valentine, Nebraska where Alma graduated from high school in 1938.  Her first job was for Stilwell Insurance Company.

Alma married Herbert Leonard Alder in 1939 at Martin, South Dakota.  They had 2 children, Sharon Kay and Robert Richard.

Alma and Leonard enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling.  Travels included Hawaii and Canada.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers Merle Edwin (infant) and Donald Claire; and her husband Leonard.

Surviving are daughter Sharon and husband David White, son Robert and wife Irene; grandchildren Rhonda Green and husband Steven, Tina Alder, Richard Alder, and David Alder; and great grandchildren Ronda Cheyanne Alder, Dylan Alder and Uma Rae Green.

Alma was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1950.  She passed away at Pine View Nursing Home on September 10, 2020 at the age of 100.

Graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine, Nebraska.  Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine, Nebraska was in charge of service arrangements.
