The North Platte City Council is expected to revisit a proposed pedestrian safety ordinance during its meeting Tuesday evening, along with discussions involving city finances, property sales and infrastructure assessments.
The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Among the items drawing the most attention is Ordinance No. 4252, which would add a new section to the city's traffic code addressing pedestrian safety and the use of medians. The proposal was introduced at the council's June 2 meeting but was tabled following discussion among council members regarding the language of the ordinance and how it would be applied.
Council members are scheduled to consider the ordinance again on first reading Tuesday.
The regular agenda also includes discussion of selling various parcels of city-owned property. No action is scheduled to be taken on the matter, but the discussion could provide insight into future development opportunities and the city's plans for excess property.
Financial matters will make up several agenda items. Council members are expected to designate FNBO as a warrant lender and approve a warrant purchase agreement as part of the city's warrant financing process. The council will also consider approving claims and authorizing the issuance of warrants totaling more than $640,000 to cover approved claims.
As the Board of Equalization, council members are scheduled to consider the benefit schedule for Sanitary Sewer Connection District No. 23, located east of Buffalo Bill Avenue. The district extends north of Spring Road and south along the west alley of Valley Drive to State Farm Road.
The consent agenda includes several liquor license-related requests, including special designated licenses for a City Discount Liquors customer appreciation event and the North Platte Jaycees' beer garden during Canteen Cruize Fest. Council members will also consider forwarding a Class D liquor license application for Fat Dogs Express at 3002 South Jeffers Street to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission without recommendation.
Also on the consent agenda is the mayor's appointment of Victoria Loving to the North Platte Housing Authority Board.
The council may enter closed session, if necessary, to discuss personnel matters, real estate transactions or potential litigation.
The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed through the city's online meeting platform.
