After a breezy start to the work week with a high in the mid-50s projected, the chance of wintry weather returns in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in North Platte said there is a 30 percent to 40 percent chance of snow starting after 2 a.m. and continuing into Tuesday evening. Wind chill values are expected to be as low as zero.
Heavier snow is expected to stay north and west of Lincoln County, with blizzard and winter storm warnings in effect. The Panhandle region of Nebraska could receive anywhere from 4 inches to a foot of snow.
North Platte is expected to receive an inch of snow, while Ogallala could receive up to 2 inches.
Skies will begin to clear by Wednesday, which is expected to be blustery with a high in the upper-30s and winds gusting at 40 to 45 mph.
