Residents on North Platte's north side now have a more convenient option for recycling following the opening of a new drop-off location at the Public Service Building, 1402 N. Jeffers St.

City officials say the site was added to improve access to recycling services for residents in the area while offering the same materials collection and recycling process available at existing community drop-off locations.

The recycling containers feature eight compartments designated for tin cans, aluminum cans, mixed paper, newspapers and magazines, and plastics numbered 1 through 7. A separate receptacle is also available for corrugated cardboard.

Accepted materials at the new site mirror those collected at other North Platte recycling locations. Residents can find additional recycling information and guidelines at Keep North Platte Beautiful's website. Each recycling bin also includes a QR code that links directly to recycling information, allowing users to review guidelines while at the site.

City officials say the addition of the north-side location is intended to make recycling more accessible and convenient for residents while helping divert recyclable materials from local landfills.
