Jack Adams Jr.

Jack Adams, Jr., was born March 15, 1941, to Jack, Sr. "Ting" and Ruthe Adams in North Platte.  He passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney on November 25, 2023, at age 82.

Jack grew up in North Platte where he graduated with the N.P.H.S. Class of 1959.  He worked for the Nebraska Game Commission for a couple years, then on oil rigs at Russell, KS.  In 1962 Jack hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and had a long career and worked in various positions.  He was a Switchman, Brakeman in Cheyenne, Yardmaster (three times), was an apprentice Pipefitter in Omaha, and got his Conductor rights.

Jack retired from the railroad in 1995 then had more time to do what he loved.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a taxidermist for 45 years.  Jack had great love and respect for animals and loved his daughters and grandkids too.

In 1975, Jack married Rogene Pierson and they were together until her passing.

Along with his wife, Jack was preceded in death by his parents; children, Debra Muller and Jack Enos; infant brother, Jack; sisters, Bitsy Ready and Judy and husband, Clyde Paul; and granddaughter, Heidie Muller.

He is survived by his daughters, Katie Leabo (Ted) of Erhard, MN, and Christine Adams of Omaha; grandchildren, Amanda Leabo and Andy Leabo of Erhard, MN; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Evie Leabo and Saylor Haarstick; nieces, Jan Plog of North Platte and Kim Clawson of Denver; his brother-in-law, Marvin Ready, and friend, Mark Anthony, both of North Platte; and other family and friends.

Cremation was chosen.  Graveside service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, at Plainview Cemetery with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating.  The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com. or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Since Jack loved animals, memorials are to FUR Animal Rescue, formerly known as Fur the Love of Paws.
