Doran Trent Mitchell, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away at Great Plains Health in North Platte on April 17, 2021, the day after turning 59.
Doran was born April 16, 1962, to Keith and Betty Mitchell at North
Platte where he grew up. Following high school, Doran went on the road
installing cell towers for several years then worked construction in
various places before returning to North Platte. In 1999 he went to
work for Municipal Light and Water and worked for the city for 20 years.
On July 6, 2007, Doran married Cherise Henry in North Platte, where they made their home. He loved fishing, gardening, growing hot peppers and made the best salsa with his own ingredients. Doran was also a beloved Chicago Cubs fan. He was quick-witted and had the best sense of humor. Doran will be greatly missed as a husband, father, grandfather and friend who was always there when someone was in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Betty; and
father-in-law, Robert Henry.
Doran leaves behind his wife, Cherise, of North Platte, NE; sons, Casey
Mitchell (partner, Ruby Sanchez), of Omaha, NE and Cameron Schuett, of North Platte, NE; grandson, Miles; brothers, Bob (Mary) Mitchell and Troy Mitchell, of North Platte, NE and Derek (Ruth) Mitchell, of Kearney, NE; mother-in-law, Carolyn Henry, of North Platte, NE; brothers-in-law, Mick (Lorie) Henry, of York, NE, Tom (Diana) Henry, of North Platte, NE and Joe (Audrey) Werner, of McKinney, TX; sister-in-law, Denise Young, of North Platte, NE; special friends, Alan and Sandy Chrisman, of North Platte, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021,
at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
