  Donna Folkers, 88, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away at Country House memory care unit in Grand Island on June 4, 2024.

Donna was born on August 31, 1935 and was the daughter of Jasper and Doris Hudson of Lexington, Nebraska. Donna and her three sisters lived in and attended school in Lexington during the beginning years of her life, until she met her late husband, Dwaine Folkers. On August 15, 1953 Donna married Dwaine, while stationed in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Following their marriage, they moved to the family farm where they began building their life and family together.

From their marriage they were blessed with four children, Doug, Scott, Craig, Penny. When they were school age, Donna decided to embark on her career in Cosmetology. After successfully completing cosmetology school and receiving her license in North Platte, Donna opened her own salon in the back of the LaGrace Clothing store in Gothenburg. After a few years of being in business, Donna had her own shop built, Donna's Beauty Salon, which was the go to place to get your hair done! After 30 years in the business Donna sold her building and business.

Donna enjoyed plants and flowers, she could grow anything. Donna played the piano and organ by ear, and loved to go on rides and dance. Donna at one time served on the kitchen committee and also quilted at the American Lutheran Church.

Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Dwaine, son Craig, parents and parents in-law.

Donna is survived by her children, Doug (Marcia) Folkers of Littleton, CO; Scott (Christy) Folkers of Omaha, NE; daughter, Penny Thorman of Gothenburg, NE; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren, her sisters Marilyn, Jackie and Karen.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, June 9, 2024, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. with family present.
Services will be held at 10:30 am, June 10, 2024 at the American Lutheran Church, 1512 Ave G, Gothenburg, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Hjelmstad officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
