
Carroll P. Roberts, 94, of Bellevue, NE formerly of North Platte, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Eastern Nebraska Veteran’s Home. Born in Cedar Rapids, NE on April 24, 1927 Carroll was the youngest son of Walter and Minnie (Noble) Roberts.
Carroll graduated from high school in Iowa Falls, IA, being All State in both football and basketball. His parents moved to Weeping Water, NE, where his older brother also settled for many years with his wife Barb, and Carroll’s two nieces Debbie and Roberta. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Sergeant and rifle instructor. Carroll attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
He subsequently worked in the insurance industry, first for Springfield Insurance, and then, for many years, The St. Paul Insurance Company, where he was a field supervisor. Carroll married his wife Patricia while living in Hastings, NE on November 16, 1958. They moved to North Platte, NE around 1960 where they raised older daughter Angela, and son Paul.
Carroll had a love for hunting and fishing his whole life, and after retirement from The St. Paul, he spent many summers working at the Reindeer Lake Trout Camp in Saskatchewan, Canada, as well as working many sports shows across the U.S. promoting the camp. He was also active at First United Methodist Church in North Platte, where he served as Finance Chairman for several years.
He spent the last years of his life at the Eastern Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Bellevue, NE, where is brother also resided until his death.
Carroll is survived by his daughter, Angela Barry of Kenai, AK; son, Paul Roberts of Lincoln, NE; three grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother, Winfred.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in North Platte with Rev. Dr. Douglas Delp officiating. Private burial in Ft. McPherson National Veterans Cemetery in Maxwell. Memorial book will be available to sign on Friday, March 18th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is entrusted with the arrangements.
