It was a great day for North Platte Schools at the UNK invite with St. Pats boys coming in first place overall, the NPSP girls take 2nd place in Class D.
In Class A, the NPHS Girls end up 4th overall, the boys come in 6th. Head coach Jake Hasenauer shared some of his thoughts:
This is an all class A meet and the competition is unreal. There were 14 class A schools at the meet and out of those, six of the girls teams are ranked in the top 9 in the state and for boys, four of the top seven teams in the state were in attendance. In addition to great teams, many of the individuals there are all ranked in the top 15 in the state. It was fun to be a part of this competition and see how we stack up against other class A schools.
The girls led off the day with a tremendous start. We were down a couple varsity girls, but they battled and finished fourth as a team! I thought top five would be a great day, so being fourth was awesome for them! They were led by medalists Marissa Holm (5th) and Zarah Blaesi (6th), followed by Evelyn Blaesi just missing out on a medal, coming in 22nd. They showed tremendous heart today and competed great for their team.
The boys fought hard and finished in 6th, just narrowly losing out to 5th place Millard North. The boys keep working to get a little better each week. When you’re the smallest class A school going up against teams with a ton of depth, it’s tough, but they have shown they want to be good and are ready to battle for their brothers every step of the way. I’m proud of these guys. They’ve fought off lots of adversity to get to where they are today. Boys were led by lone medalist Evan Caudy finishing fourth and Quade Lowe just missing a medal coming in 25th.
