
Karen Louise (Lucas) Doetker was born on July 2, 1955 to Kenneth and Tillie (Sinka) Lucas in Lamar, Colorado, the third of five children. She passed away on January 13, 2023 with family by her side.
During her youth, Karen was involved in 4-H and FFA, and enjoyed life on the farm. The family moved to Wauneta, Nebraska in 1970 where she graduated from high school.
On June 5, 1976, Karen married Loren Doetker. The couple lived on a farm southeast of Wauneta. Over the years, Karen worked as an aide in the Wauneta School Library, a CNA at the Heritage of Wauneta, and numerous positions at Wal-Mart in both McCook and North Platte in Nebraska. She shared her joy of 4-H with her daughters, teaching them to sew and ripping out many a seam. Karen enjoyed her grandchildren the most, and loved seeing them every chance she got.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth; her husband, Loren; and infant daughter, Christina.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Tillie Lucas of Wauneta, Nebraska; her daughters, Lisa (Russ) Schaffert of Culbertson, Nebraska, Kay Markut of McCook, Nebraska, and Michell Doetker of Sidney, Nebraska; grandchildren, Hayden, Evan, Beau, Nicholas, Aaliyah, Christina, and Hailea; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Karen will be held on Friday morning, January 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time at the Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta, Nebraska with a private family burial at Eden Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation as her wishes of cremation will be honored.
