NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A man was arrested after he fled from an attempted traffic stop in North Platte.
On Sunday at 6:57 p.m., police said officers observed a vehicle with expired plated in the area of 13th St. and Jeffers St. and attempted to make a traffic stop.
Police said the driver, later identified as Mark Ryan, 37, stopped briefly then fled in the vehicle.
Police said officers pursued the vehicle to the area of 7th St. and Willow St., where Ryan exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Police said Ryan failed to put the vehicle in park and it continued moving before colliding with the Willow viaduct.
According to police, officers pursued Ryan onto Union Pacific Railroad property before apprehending him in the 500 block of West 6th St.
Police said Ryan was arrested on suspicion of driving under suspension, willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, resisting arrest and having an expired registration.
Ryan was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
No injuries to Ryan or the officers were reported.
