Donald Roman Reyes, 81, of Hershey, Nebraska passed away August 21, 2022 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.  He was born April 13, 1941 to Elias and Nativadad (Roman) Reyes in McCook, Nebraska.

Don grew up in McCook as a young man, but later moved to Hershey, Nebraska on a farm near family.  He was united in marriage to Tomasita “Tommie” Reyes on April 24, 1961 in Ogallala, Nebraska.  The couple lived in Hershey and he worked at TRW in Ogallala, then Kuroki farms and later worked as a foreman at Weitz Construction. Don coached Aztec basketball and also organized the Aztec Basketball Tournament in Hershey.  He coached Hershey Baseball in the Babe Ruth League.  He was a very good athlete during his school years.  Don will always be remembered as the smartest uneducated man the family knew.

Don is survived by his children, Debbie (Dennis) Lindsay, Topeka, Kansas, Donna Fuentes (Jack Meyerhoeffer), Hastings, Nebraska, Derek Reyes, Memphis, Tennessee, Delores (Richard) Chadwick, Sutherland, Nebraska, Victor Reyes, Lincoln, Nebraska, Kelsey Reyes, Pearsell, TX; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; siblings Belinda Potter, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Vicky (Jessie) Martinez, North Platte, Nebraska, Genevieve Reyes Young, North Platte, Nebraska and Mary Allen (Tim) Udell, Plainview, Nebraska; along with many other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Nativadad Reyes, wife, Tommie Reyes, brothers, Felix and Stephen.

Visitation will be from noon – 7:00, prior to Rosary at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.   Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 25, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rev. Jon Sorensen as celebrant.  Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 26, 2022 at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  Adams & Swanson Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.  The service will be livestreamed at adamsswanson.com for those who can’t attend the service.
