NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — High school seniors across North Platte and the surrounding area have the opportunity to earn scholarship money while learning valuable financial skills through NebraskaLand Bank's NebraskaLand University program.

Applications are now open for the free financial literacy scholarship program, which is designed to help students prepare for life after high school. The six-course program covers topics including budgeting, saving money, managing credit, loan basics, career development, identity theft protection and paying for college.

The curriculum is taught by banking professionals and was developed by senior and executive officers at NebraskaLand Bank.

Since launching in 2014, NebraskaLand University has awarded approximately $124,250 in scholarships to more than 400 local high school graduates.

Students who complete all six courses will be eligible to compete in a capstone essay contest judged by a NebraskaLand Bank committee. The top three essays will receive academic scholarships of $1,000, $750 and $500. In addition, every student who successfully completes the program will receive a $250 academic scholarship from NebraskaLand Bank.

Applications for the 2026 program are due by Sept. 8. Because class sizes are limited, students are encouraged to apply early.

Applications and additional information are available at www.NebraskaLandUniversity.com.
