Douglas McBeain of North Platte passed away at Great Plains Health on November 2, 2023, at age 73.
Doug was born in Austin, MN, on June 16, 1950, to Marvin and Genevieve McBeain. He grew up in Austin and in Perry, Clarksville and Guttenberg, IA. While in high school Doug worked for his father's service station and later the Ford dealer. After graduating high school he worked several different jobs and was a man of many talents.
In 1969 Doug married Robecca Wedeking. They moved to Colorado in 1973 and later divorced. Doug worked as a welder, later becoming a rancher. He married Judy Hanneman on November 27, 1979, in Denver where they lived until moving to Laramie, WY. Doug continued ranching until he had an accident in March of 1987.
Doug and Judy moved to Garber, IA, in 1992 then to North Platte six years later. Judy died in October 2010. On October 8, 2011, Doug married Tabitha Brewer in Las Vegas. They made their home together in North Platte.
Doug was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, friends and his beloved dogs, King, Jack and Maggie. Doug also enjoyed tracing his family's ancestry and loved studying and discussing the bible. He never met a stranger and used his disability to inspire others. Doug lived life to the fullest and was a cowboy, through and through.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; brothers, Duane and Steven; and a great-grandchild.
Doug is survived by his wife, Tabitha; his children, Jeremy (Cheryl) McBeain of Pueblo, CO, Joseph (Angel) McBeain of Grand Junction, CO, Joshua (Angela) McBeain of Commerce City, CO, and Tyler (Amy) McBeain of North Platte; sisters, Sherrie (Ralph) Seago of Eagle, CO, and Debbi (Kevin) Shaw of Madison, AL; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and other family.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor John Sexson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation is an hour prior to the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
