KEARNEY, Neb.-Friday marked 13 years since Kelcey Fike was found murdered in a Kearney trailer park, and a reward is being offered for information that helps solve the case.
It was the early morning hours of June 17, 2008, when officers with the Kearney police department and Kearney Fire responded to a structure fire at #58 R-Villa South Trailer Court on the west edge of the city.
As police investigated the blaze, they located Fike, deceased, inside the trailer. Further investigation revealed the cause of death was a homicide.
That evening, Kelcey had gotten off work from her job at a local grocery store, Bob's Super Foods, at around 5:30 p.m.
Police said at around 9:30 p.m., a neighbor reported seeing Fike outside her trailer with her dog.
Then, at around 4:39 a.m., police said surveillance from The Buckle, near the trailer park, showed a car leaving the trailer park.
At 4:50 a.m., police and fire personnel responded to the blaze and find Fike inside the home unresponsive. She is pronounced dead.
Police have followed numerous leads and tips but still have not made any arrests or developed any strong suspects.
"Members of the Kearney Police Department remain committed to solving this homicide for Kelcey and her family," a post on the department's Facebook page said.
