Steven R. Bomark, 73, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.

Steve was born on August 17, 1949 in North Platte, NE the son of LaMoine R. and Doris L. (Short) Bomark.

Steve grew up around North Platte where he was involved in 4-H and FFA.  He graduated from North Platte High School in 1967 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from 1968 to 1972 with one tour in Vietnam. He was married in North Platte on August 28, 1970 to the love of his life, Donna L. Guiles and together they had four children. He and his wife built the Z lazy P Ranch together over the last 50+ years where he enjoyed ranching life, and attending the many activities and events of his children and grandchildren. Over the years he also enjoyed team roping, team sorting, fishing, golfing and bowling with great friends.  Steve was employed for 42 years with Union Pacific Railroad in the Diesel Shop as an electrician and at the time of his retirement, as a Foreman General I.  Steve was a member of the VFW, Lone Star Cowboy church and a past member of the Lake Maloney Saddle Club.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Donna; daughters, Tracey (Treg) Kearney, Mindy (Nat) Warren, and Kristen (Josh) Corfield all of North Platte; son, Jason (Sarah) Bomark of North Platte; grandchildren, Payton (Dillon) Schultz, Aubrie Kearney (Tyson Caudillo), Faith Kearney, Raesha (Owen) King, Emma (Ryan) Clipp , Ella Warren, Coy Corfield, Ava Bomark, Hudson Bomark, and Rilynn Bomark; great grandchildren, Barrett and Tinnley Schultz and a great- granddaughter, Baby Clipp, on the way; sisters, Margo Frequez and Lynne Jeffers; brothers, Mark (Joan) Bomark and Don (Judy) White; and many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LaMoine and Doris; stepfathers, JR (Dick) Pittman and William (Bill) Thrash; in-laws, Robert and Fae Guiles; and niece, Erin Lynne Shearer.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell with Pastor John Sexson officiating. The memorial book will be available to sign from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
