George Legas, 68, of North Platte, peacefully passed away May 21, 2024 at his home. He was born February 7, 1956 to Nicholas and Esther (Carland) Legas in North Platte.
George worked for the city of North Platte for many years as a street and traffic supervisor, before going to work at Gerald Gentleman Power Plant. He worked there as an electrician for about 30 years until retirement. George married Mary Ball in the 1970’s and was married to her until her death. They had no children. Through friendship, George began a relationship with LaDonna Schmidt which lasted until her death.
George was a caring person who helped people when he could. He enjoyed having coffee and reading the paper with his brother, Nick. George loved spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them life lessons. Not only did he spoil them with love and affection but also with the finer things in life. He taught them that if you work hard, you can play hard. George will be dearly missed.
