
Lola Gene Leitner, age 92, passed away on June 29, 2023 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born on October 17, 1930 in Yoder, Wyoming to Winnett (Pete) and Vera (Evans) Jones.
Lola grew up in the Grant and McCook areas and attended schools there. She married Barrnett (Barney) Leitner on November 17, 1946 in Oberlin, Kansas. They were blessed with three sons, Royce, Laney and Dennis. They lived on a farm in rural McCook for 60 plus years. Lola enjoyed sewing, painting, ceramics, macrame and reading. She also had a great love for animals. Barney and Lola traveled and enjoyed riding their motorcycles. In later years they enjoyed camping.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Karol, Everett and Owen, and sister Vera Belle Scott.
She is survived by sons Royce (wife Vicky) of Oberlin, KS, Laney (wife Judy) of Lincoln, NE, and Dennis (wife Linda) of North Platte, NE; nine grandchildren, Alissa McDonald, Ryan, Roland, Chris, and Lyn Leitner, Mandy Ballinger, DeLynna Schilz, Matthew Leitner, Andrea Glenn; great-grandchildren, Albany Ireland, Nicholas and Ezra McDonald, Grady, Rhianna, Brevan, Isaac, Caroline, Violet, Ainsley, Graci, Olivia, Mallory and Bailey Leitner, Karley Schilz, Brooklyn, Sydney, Cheyenne, Madison and Michael Leitner, Amberlynn, Bentley and Kylie Glenn; sister, Karen Stevenson and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte on Wednesday, July 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Cross of Christ Revival Center, 3615 West Rodeo Road, North Platte at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Graveside inurnment service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7th. Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte has been entrusted with the arrangements.
