Scott Martin Doty, of Fremont, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 4th, 2024, at the age of 61.
Scott was born November 15, 1962, in Broken Bow, he was the fourth child to Bill and Mary Doty. He was Baptized and Confirmed at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow. Scott graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1981 and enrolled at Southeast Community College in Milford, NE where he received an Applied Sciences Degree in Electrical Technology in 1982. His hobbies as a young man included playing football, Civil Air Patrol, Husker football, and pestering his older siblings.
In 1982, while living in Pleasant Dale he met the love of his life Lori and married her on April 22, 1983, in Pleasant Dale. Scott and Lori moved to Kansas in 1983 where Scott began his career as an electrician for IBP. While in Kansas they had three children: Ryan, Heather, and Kristin. While in Kansas, Scott spent his time raising his children, camping, and volunteering for the local fire department. Scott and Lori moved to Fremont in 1993 to be closer to their families and enjoyed boating, camping, gardening, chasing hot air balloons, and spending time with family and friends.
In 2011, Scott and Lori acquired a permanent camping spot on the Platte River where their camping friends became family. Scott’s more recent hobbies were camping, geocaching, air boating, feeding his wildlife critters, and spending time with his family. Scott was a big lover of all animals, especially his 3 cats at home, Kai, Peka, and Stumpy.
Scott is survived by his children; son Ryan (Jen) Doty; daughter Kristin Doty; grandsons Grayson and Gavin Doty; brother Pat (Linda) Doty, sister-in-law Susan Doty, brother-in-law Bruce (Marge) Koefoot; brothers and sisters-in-law Jeff (Barb) Ficke, Jerry (Cindy) Ficke, Amanda Forry, Brian (Angel) Ficke, Tracy (Betty) Ficke, Andy Ficke, Angie Ficke, Daniel Ficke and fiancé Danielle, Jordan Ficke, Lynne Ficke, Joni Ficke; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, feline kids, grand pups and grand kitties.
Scott is preceded in death by his wife Lori Doty; daughter Heather Doty; parents William and Mary Doty; sister Julie Koefoot; brother Mark Doty; and nephew Johnny Sullivan.
Visitation will be held at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow on Thursday, July 11th at 12:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held after visitation starting at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service.
